Major storm damage in western Sydney. Roofs collapsed due hail.

So an aircraft on the ground intact (I'm assuming), passengers safe, reports will be written for the edification of all and sundry as/if required to explain.

Why the original post??

Just wondering.
Cheers

Why the original post??

Commercial aircraft don't usually land at Richmond Airforce base.

As p.j.m mentioned, you don't normally see Qantas at Richmond RAAF base.
Galdian, I'm sorry if my post isn't worthy of space here.

Anyway, back in Sydney at 6:42pm. Must have been due weather. I didn't think the storm passing through Sydney was long enough to prohibit it from holding whilst it passed.

Watched it on FR24 holding east of YSSY for a while then diverted in Richmond ILS Z 28.
They were making their approach into RIC when the first landings started again at YSSY 34 L/R.......bugga.

The only thing that resembled qf was the tail.

What did the TAF say, prob 30? Tempo TS?
Was YSCB ok for an alternate?

Don't know what the TAF or TTF said but YSCB must have been ok as a QF A330 MEL SYD held east of YSSY before diverting there at the same time the 738 went to RIC. Maybe the Jetconnect fellas didn't have enough for CBR?

Either way who cares? They did what was legal and landed safely.......

If you blame anyone blame QF fuel policy?

Does Jetconnect have the same fuel policy? - doubt it.:hmm:

The TAF was for prob 30 Inter TS but QF put on an op risk so Tempo fuel on the plans.:ok:

Seriously

The Tafs I saw during the day was prob 30 tempo... So don't know what Tafs you were looking at

Depends how long the flight was, before my 10 hr flight it was Inter, later changed to Tempo.

I didn't mean to give the impression I was looking to lay blame. I was genuinely interested in the forecasting element and what it means for my own fuel planning. Safe outcome, good stuff.
Cheers

I 'went' to Richmond in the 80's, no big deal at the time.

My personal view is Richmond is a great asset in the Sydney area and could take some of the pressure off Mascot until the 'Creek' is opened in 10-15 years time.

We can't have any of that, how would "Macquarie" charge exhorbitant parking fees, or taxi pickup fees, or huge rents to un-needed retailers, or huge landing fees?
