Ask Bob M on the Flyer Forum as he was flying it.
Takes a lot of polishing :p
It certainly was not Little G where it is kept.

Very nice and brief appearances of an Annie too!

The video was taken at Old Warden

The aircraft is a regular performer, often with the other Spartan from its home base, at the Children In Need show at Lt Gransden, this year on 30 August.

I thought it might be OW as I think that is their Anson getting in the picture!

I wonder how much elbow wax per hour it takes to maintain the pristine finish? More than most of us would want to invest, I dare say.

One of the most memorable things I ever saw in the USA - a Spartan Executive taxis up, stops, and out emerge a middle-aged couple. He strolls off to talk to the onlookers, she gets out the polishing kit and starts working!!!

34 of them were built - a project of oilman J. Paul Getty in the late 1930s. Only thirty-four were built, perhaps twenty remaining 80 years later. Delightfully light on the controls!

Only disadvantage I can see is a disappointingly small useful load, compared e.g. to a DGA-15P. It seats 5, but with any fuel on board, it only lifts 3.

If I could have three American light aircraft from the 30s, it would be a Spartan Executive, Howard DGA-15 and a Staggerwing. Oh and maybe a Waco... Four...

So with a useful fuel load, personal effects and polishing kit it is a two seater!
Very stylish al the same.

Sitting at my desk, my head started lightly buzzing at its natural resonant frequency of 1700 rpm - the result of riding many hours behind a Wasp Jr. of P&W at economy cruise. I walked over to the window to observe an aeroplane stirring up memories.

Alas, 'twas only a lawnmower at the neighbor's lawn. :{

It reminded me that I am the black sheep in my family. Dad became spoiled on the Pratt radials as a FI in WWII. I in turn went for a few decades working for P&W's archrival. :suspect::E
