Yes, Air Croatia is the topic, not the much larger and better known Croatia Airlines.

Air Croatia had their first commercial flight last week. Anyone know anything about them, who put up the cash to run the company, and whether the people running the company have strong experience running a commercial passenger airline ?

I'm trying to decide whether there is a real gap in the market in Zagreb, or if this is just a bunch of dreamers who will be forced to suspend flights at the end of summer 2015.

Before someone decides that they can use Google / wikipedia to find basic info, I know that trick as well. Would prefer comments from people who have personal first hand knowledge of Air Croatia or the airline market specifically in Zagreb.

As the virtual carrier does not yet have its own Air Operators Certificate (AOC), it is chartering a 27-year-old ATR 42-300, OY-CHT (cn 80), from Dutch ACMI specialists, Denim Air ACMI

With that in mind your guess is as good as anybody. Arguably, most airlines are started by dreamers. No matter how solid the financing and how experienced the management, some succeed and many don't.

They suspended their Budapest flights until later this year after just 1 flight. I'm guessing that's not what most of their routes will be like but it certainly isn't the best of starts for them. Anyway, wish them all the best

I hope they can stay alive. The Balkans has lots of potential, especially since people are only just starting to holiday there en masse again.

Air Serbia seem to be doing very well, and lot's of airports in the region are getting new terminals etc.

Suspended ops today (until 01JUN according to the airline, my bet is on forever).
