I'm just trying to ascertain the point of the article. It doesn't acheive much, apart from saying he can't always trust his FO and its a security risk against the captain. Didn't a captain do something similar in Southern Africa?

How can we really trust anyone. Anyone in any profession can be affected by external circumstances which may project them to suicidal tendencies?

The next time I step on a crew bus, I better ask myself. Can I really trust this driver or his he or she going to run us all off a bridge. Perhaps their last venture with our airline was not a very pleasant experience.

I find his remarks deeply offensive towards his fellow emirates pilots.
I recalll a certain captain America talking to the press without authorization a few years ago and getting into trouble with the company, at least BM said good things about the company.
This guy has denigrated his colleagues and the company, I have met him and flown with him when he was a TRE..... I had serous concerns about him then.

Hey, let's not bag a colleague on the net in such a way. We're all on the same side.

However, I do worry that Capt JC may have violated the Company rules about media outlets here. It doesn't look great, the way that the Telegraph has portrayed it. Even if it was sort of taken out of context. At some point, it has crossed the mind of every pilot in every airline that one day he may be sat next to a unstable character at his tipping point.

Hope the airline sees the pragmatic side of it.

It doesn't matter if you mention EK or not, we are not allowed unless we have permission from EK and somebody from the EK propaganda department is present as well.

He writes near monthly columns on Home | Luchtvaartnieuws (http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl) a Dutch aviation website, hence I wouldn't be surprised if he has some sort of permission.

Nevertheless, I have never seen EK mentioned in any of his columns.

There are pilots in "ALL" airlines that are on anti-depressants and who are flying. I am sure JC has a reason to be concerned as this has happened "for real" by a guy who was depressed along with whatever other hidden reasons were behind his actions and silent smiles. I would also like to add that this "concern" of being locked out of the cockpit has run through my mind also and I am sure that all pilots will have had those thoughts now.
