What are the current diesel / A1 engines available to fit in older Cessna 172 N aircraft ?

Certified or Experimental?

The most common conversion available will be the Centurion, either 135hp or 155hp from now Continental (ex Thielert - conversion of Mercedes Benz A-class engine for aviation use). Disadvantage of these engines - there is no TBO, only TBR (no overhaul options, only replacement, and the 155hp has only 1200 hours TBR) and not everybody is amused by FADEC flying. If the N is Experimental, conversion to VW Diesel engines may be also an option.

Many thanks. Would you know if these engines just slot right in without any modifications to mountings etc..?

Pretty much everything forward of the firewall beyond the nose gear is replaced. Base Price around $100,000 American.

Great pictures, thanks. I had not considered how much the mounting would have to be reorganised.

Besides Centurion are there any other engines in development that will fit a Cessna - hopefully with a longer TBO/TBR! ?
