That's a strange one! If genuine, a survey/intelligence led flight perhaps, but all the same that's a long flight over many sovereign territories. Some of these flight profiles are truly geometric artworks done by pilots whose parents forbade them an Etch A Sketch for Xmas in years gone by.

Looking at the radar (T-DEBUG), and the fact it operated at a perfect 300kts & 16000ft for the whole 3 1/2 hour flight, as well as continuing until just south of India would suggest that it may be spurious. Mode S code belongs to an Italian Air Force AMX according to some sites.

If not it is a impressive piece of flying.

Looks like some sort of test to me, with the FR24 system, as opposed to an actual aircraft.

Out of interest why would FR24 want to test on the live system, especially where it gives an erroneous flightpath/flight by a possibly real aircraft identity ? I thought that such systems had 'off-line' facilities to run various scenarios by the developers before being let out of the box ?

I was just using FR24 to see what a particular overflying aircraft was and was sidetracked by an unidentified aircraft flying SE to NW at…..75,500ft and 640kts. There's not much that that high these days. And then, another 41000ft unidentified aircraft but going at a leisurely 66kts…Are these likely fake ?

The aircraft has a wingspan larger than a Boeing 737, but weigh less than a car.

Although not small, it looks very thin and might not take up much space, but all the same what might be ok over Australia or the USA seems to be a bit of a risk bearing in mind the crowded airspace over the UK, especially the southern part.

If any of the aforementioned 'aircraft' were indeed test inserts, would there be any give aways within the hex code or radar identification ?

It looks like a track along the equator. So maybe a test of handling North/South latitudes crossing 0 degrees.
