Seems quiet....did only my wife and I see the announcement on BBC news yesterday?

My guess is because we've seen this kind of headline for many years:
Ryanair considering transatlantic flights in five years - BBC News (http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/business-31910867)

It may well be an exercise to impress shareholders or Boeing. As the photo caption says:
Ryanair first mooted plans for transatlantic flights in 2008.

This topic is indeed being discussed in: http://www.pprune.org/airlines-airports-routes/496656-ryanair-9-a-130.html starting at Post #2594 (Thanks PAXboy)

The article linked in that post states that the Board has given approval and:
Ryanair shares rose 0.3% on the stock market today. So the 'announcement' is not going to change anything in the near future.

RingsOfThunder, thanks for the post but PPRuNe has a policy of a topic only being discussed in one thread at a time so this is not personal! Please follow the link to discuss.
