Hey there Global Drivers!

Was in VKO (as always) the other day and a saw a Global taxy by post haste.
During the entire strech I saw him, his left thurst reverser was open.
Is this a normal procedure? (this was after landing as they came to the apron)
What is the reason for doing this?

Used simply to slow down without too much wheel braking particularly if any significant downslope or very light weight. Brakes might already have been hot after landing.

We do this all the time, provided the taxiway is clean enough, no blowing FOD, etc. Saves the brakes and keeps temps down, but best not to be popping the reverser in and out as it results in undue wear on the actuators.

We do that all the time on the G550s.. Both rev in idle as well if needed be.. These beasts want's to go fly and are severely overpowered, in particular with little gas onboard, eg. on arrival, as they are powered to carry lots of gas..

Hi,

There is no limitation regarding the reverses thrust on GLEX, especialy
as light weight.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I wish our aircraft (the little brother of global was overpowered like yours! Challenger 850) :)
