Anyone heard anything? Have a friend (not an aviator) who was a passenger on board a flight to MAD and on take off had engine "blow out" in his words and return to LHR. Must been a large bang.

Anyone know details?

This is being reported on SHARECAST, maybe a mix up in the info somewhere or two separate incidents.

"An Easyjet flight from London Gatwick to Lisbon declared an emergency, diverting course and descending rapidly as it flew over the Bay of Biscay.

Easyjet flight U28717 sent an emergency signal, according to the Flightaware tracking system and Airlive.com.

The plane began to descend as it approached the northern Spanish coast, diverting east towards Oviedo in the province of Asturias.

Flight 8717 later landed safely at Asturias but the reason for the emergency was not yet known - with flight experts suggesting a medical emergency for a passenger was most likely."

There is a summary on avherald but it gives very little detail.

Incident: British Airways A320 at London on Mar 12th 2015, engine shut down in flight (http://avherald.com/h?article=483204dc&opt=0)
