I kindly request some info how to convert my ICAO ATP with P1 A320 type into Turkish ATPL. Do I have to take any theoritical exams and which ones?

You would have to take all 14 exams in Ankara. They only hold the exams at specified times each month, so you'd have to do the exams based on the DGCA's schedule.

It's a licence that has no use outside Turkey.

This is really a strange answer from u 20 years 2 late . The TK licence is JAR and anyway ICAO , so u use it worldwide like any other ICAO licence .

To clarify my earlier response:

If you already have an ICAO licence you would be just better to get a Validation of your ICAO licence. That would entail doing Air Law and maybe 2 others (cannot remember from memory).

To do all 14 exams, you would be better doing them in Europe and actually getting an EASA licence which at least has value in Europe.

If you do the 14 exams in Turkey, it will add zero value if you wanted to work with a company that requires an EASA licence. The Turkish Licence is NOT EASA.

I have heard there are some Turkish ATPL holders that have concerted their licences to an Irish Licence. Personally I think this is a money grab and viewed dimly by other EASA states, as Turkey is not an EU member.

Do your own thorough research before embarking on a long study course! Good luck!

If the company accept an ICAO licence there is no requirement to convert and you simply get a " letter of permission to fly" from the DGCA, it replaces the old " validation system" there are no tests or exams. To get an irish licence you need an accommodation address in Eire, it's not as simple as just applying, you will also need an Irish medical check and various other bits of paperwork, can't see the point of this process?

It is so Turkish TRE's can sign off EASA licence holders in the Sim. The EASA pilots can only have EASA TRE's do the paperwork, (Turkish Licence holders are not accepted) and there are very few of them.

By the way... none of the Turkish pilots who got an Irish Licence have an address in Ireland:ok:

Twenty something, you seem to have lost the plot! the poster wants to convert an ICAO INTO A TURKISH, not the other way round.. All the Turkish TREs at our outfit converted to NL approval licences to sign off LPCs.

To convert to an Irish (IAA EASA PART FCL) you must have a valid JAR issue first: but:

It is not possible to convert a non-JAR-FCL CPL/ATPL into an Irish issued JAR-FCL CPL/ATPL, since Ireland implemented JAR-FCL in November, 2000. However, it is possible to obtain credits for such licences towards the issue of a JAR-FCL licence in accordance with the requirements of JAR-FCL 1.016, 2.016 or 3.016, as applicable. Theoretical Knowledge and Flight training credits will be determined by the Irish Aviation Authority who will seek guidance from an appropriate training organisation. I know of some CX guys whom had UK JAR FCL tickets but were flying on HK CAD licence that converted using an " accommodation address service" in Dublin, but they already had JAR FCL licences issued years ago. The TREs converted at THY using the " third country examiner" privileges and got NL EASA credits, however, again Turkey used to issue "JAR" licences.

But I guess this is a " rumours forum as well"
