Owning an airplane with a registration of another country

Hello fellow pilots

I know that "If it flies, floats or f****, it's cheaper to rent it.", but nonetheless I have some questions regarding the acquisition of an used Single Engine. It will only be flown privately by 3 or 4 pilots... But as I am from Portugal, and here GA aircraft are rare and expensive, and as the portuguese aviation civil authority (INAC) is a pain in the a**, I was thinking on the possibility of maintaining the actual registration of the aircraft.

Can someone tell me what are the advantages/disadvantages/barriers of owning a SE with a "G", "D" or "EC-" registration by a portuguese citizen? (Insurance, registration, maintenance, etc ...)

If private use you can have the aircraft on any other EASA reg. Now if you think that EC is an alternative...... :rolleyes: Stay away from EC is my only advice..

ps make sure you have a good aviation tax advisor looking at any set up too ...

It may be worth looking at the new Guernsey (2) and Jersey (ZJ) registrations, they are looking for business and might take on SE aircraft. The bonus would be that you can use FAA as well as EASA licensing and maintenance.

Portugal is one of the easiest CAA..; Stick with it...If you feel that the others are better ( especially SE) , i do not think it is the case..

Enough said. A world of hurt and only problems. Only as one example: Cessna wing SID for the 100 and 200 series.
