Vorrei chiedere scusa per la mia povvera conoscenza dell'italiano e per la domanda piutosto elementare che sto' per fare... :

Com'e' il mercato di lavoro per piloti in Italia adesso? Sona ad Oxford e sto per ottenere il CPR/IR con multi-engine rating ad agosto e sarei contente con qualsiasi job in Italia (e da altre parti in Europa), anche air-taxi. Gradisco qualsiasi risposta da parte vostra :-)

Since you;re in the Uk, I'll answer you in English.
I've been sending CVs around for quite a while, but only 1 company took the time to respond. So I took a more pro-active approach: I took some time off and hand delivered my CV to the Chief Pilots.
That actually got me somewhere. A couple of comapanies "promised" employment, but none were willing to sponsor me (I don't have a JAA ATPL, yet, although I'm a FAA ATP holder, typed on the EMB145, and with +3000 hours).
There are a few jobs out there, but the approach of getting an interview is very different that in the US. Don't bother calling people, and don't send CV by mail -- you need to go to the headquaters in person. Also, be advise they do things differently in Italy. For example, it took me weeks to set up an appointment with a small airline in Northern Italy. I drove to the headquarters to find out that the person I was supposed to meet was not coming in for the day. The interview is also much different -- no technical questions, but quite a few personal.

erjdriver, thanks for a very helpful post. I've just started looking for work but I've got no clue as to how to go about it, especially in Italy. I used to live there mind you, so I'm familiar with certain practices such as the no-show at your interview (common throughout Europe to be fair, but very different from the US). Where should I look to know what companies are out there in the first place? Is there a web site you might know of? By the time I graduate, I'll have the lowest amount of hours imaginable (JAA 160 hrs + 25 hrs sim + 25 hrs gliding), but on the other hand I have received high marks, I speak 5 languages, I'm a university graduate and have work experience elsewhere in Italy.

Hai ragione Pinguino.
Pinguino ha un ottimo sito in aviationfordogs.com (a proposito, perche' non c'e' piu' un forum?).
Sembra che quasi tutte le compagnie private in Italia stiano assumendo. Quelle con le quali ho parlato sono Alpi Eagles, Air Dolomiti e Volare Airlines (quest'ultima solo un breve colloquio).
Air Dolomiti sembra la piu' efficiente, mentre il personale di Volare era molto vago alle mie domande.

Per altre compagnie italiane e' maglio chiedere ad altri nel forum (Pinguino, un aiuto?)

Bada che la mia ricerca era superficiale...non sono ancora convinto a ritornare in Italia. Il fatto e' che con il lavoro che ho adesso ho di media 15 giorni al mese liberi, e posso usare il "jumpseat" (Delta, Continental, USAir,etc) per andare a visitare i genitori (ad Asiago).

io ho pochissime informazioni, so solo che l'alitalia express ha assunto da poco alcuni piloti usciti dalla skymaster (forse 12?) e ho sentito dire che dovrebbe assumere ancora forse, e che ci sono piu' di 100 piloti usciti dalla skymaster in attesa di trovare lavoro, ma forse loro aspetteranno di essere assunti dall'alitalia infatti pare che alcuni abbiano rifiutato l'offerta di entrare in alitalia express, ma su questo non sono sicuro poiche' sono solo voci. anche l'air one ha assunto ultimamente e credo che continui.
Il forum non c'e' piu' perche' ora c'e' questo!:D
