Just caught up on discovery. They really were awesome aircraft. The climb and turn rates for big aircraft was immense. One thing stuck me though, has anyone actually ever seen a victor take of in a straight line, they always look like they are taking off in a cross wind :) and the Vulcan out turning fighters at high altitude, love that aircraft :)

Bear in mind the V-Bombers weren't particularly big aircraft; the B. Mk. 2s were on par with a 727 in outline dimensions and weights ( but with much more wing area and an extra engine ).

Even a KC-135 dwarfed them.
