A friend of mine, whose work took her all over the world, has now developed a serious fear of flying and won't set foot in any form of flying machine. She has heard that BA run courses to help cure such problems but reckon they cost about £1,000 a day.

Is this correct? If so, are there cheaper courses in the London UK area?

Her fear is not that the aircraft will crash, but the 38,000ft below her during the cruise.

Any ideas?

Stansted, Maybe this site will be useful. airfraid (http://www.airfraid.com/flying/will/courses.asp) But £1000 a day I don't think so! Nobody whould do a course if it was that expensive, more like £150-£250.Also found the BA site.BA Site (http://www.britishairways.com/health/docs/before/fear.shtml)

Britannia Airways used to run 2 one-day courses in EMA per year which included the morning in a classroom followed by lunch, then a 45 min flight in a 757.

May be worth giving them a call?
