As I will be flying to SFO on EI 147 on 29th March I am a little concerned about reported major delays in passing through CBP at DUB due to concatenation of US-bound flights over a fairly short period. Can any one confirm the extent of such queuing and suggest an optimum time for check in for this flight - within reasonable limits of accuracy of course.

SFO flight at 12.20 p.m. is one of the latest flights so the rush should have passed. The TV screens ask you to hold in the shopping/food area and they flash up when preclearance is open for a particular flight, usually two hours before hand. As far as I know they won't process you until the flight is officially open. If you are really worried then I'd say if you are at security around 10 a.m. that should be fine.

There's a short video at the link below that will help if you've not done this before.

Any idea what the minimum transit time is? EI are selling some good deals from the UK regions to east coast USA but the Dublin transit is only 1 hour 20 ish... feels really tight?

If the incoming plane is on time then 1hr 20 should be fine. T2 is not that big and no matter where you park you should make US Preclearance area in a maximum of ten minutes after de-boarding.

Just depends on your first flight being on time!

Thanks for the information. Most helpful. I had a look at the video too and it was informative.

If anything interesting happens on the day I will post a report
