I'm referring of course to Afganistan's stunning last-ball victory yesterday over Scotland in International cricket with a four off the final delivery!

PPPuNers of a certain age will remember Chung as the "Tonto" to the "Lone Ranger" who was the Wolf of Kabul (aka 2 Lt Bill Sampson), in The Wizard.

Chung's weapon of choice was "Clicky-ba" an aged, cracked (but bound with brass wire) cricket bat.

On home territory:

Clicky-ba thundered, and men with crushed heads squirmed on the path. As long as the ICC continue to let minnow teams like the UAE, Afghanistan and England play in the World Cup the competition will be considered a bit of a joke tbh

No No No! Including the minnows doesn't make the competition a joke, Hempy, on the contrary. The phenomenal success of the football World Cup stems from its very inclusiveness which allows youngsters from Gabon to Gaza to identify with it.

If there's just a hint of a serious side to this most flippant of threads it's that the mere presence of an Afgan team at an international contest shows that all our blood and treasure expended there hasn't been an absolute and total waste!
