I'll be there competing as Robo 1. Weather doesn't look great, should be a laugh though.

You can usually fly in to Stapleford Park. The landing pad is in the grounds on the North side of the hotel. I assume there will be restrictions this weekend.

Navex etc on the Saturday
Precision flying events on the Sunday such as lifting buckets of water below the skids and putting them on a table without spilling any.
Quite interesting to watch.

Just as I thought, I'm stuck because of the weather.

MD 600 Driver, yep SC, I'll talk to you if I can get there.

It is run by the Helicopter Club of Great Britain over 2 flying days.
www.hcgb.org

2 Navigation type events with OS maps on day 1
2 Precision flying events with buckets and fenders on day 2.
There are a maximum of 30 teams.

Events are run on a points deducted basis and generally it is a good laugh.

This year we have the World Championships in Austria and the 7 teams competing will come from the teams competing in this event.

A previous post shows the venue and if you would like to turn up I suggest just the Sunday, as Saturday the helicopters will be away from the hotel. I would give them a call if you want to fly in as there will be 30+ helicopters there and I do not know the size of the landing area.

I think the frequency is 122.95

Wx is crummy here at present - I am about 30 miles West of there and cloudbase is around 300 feet.

Any chance of a report from the Championships?

In particular, how did our Rotorheads get on?

I'm given to understand that the overall winner was Alistair Sutherland, flying an R22. Many Rotorheads know him; he runs the Majorca end of the Sloane operation, the lucky bu**er.
He beat some heavyweight opposition from the AAC and CFS. The Navy weren't represented because the Lynx blows all the stuff away.

Yours truly managed 6th (nav) competing in a Schweitzer, a very leisurely 60kts competition speed for the navex, even had time for 2 laps at Rockingham on the way around. The digitally remastered maps were a hoot, well done Adrian another excellent challenge.

I have been to their website and can't seem to find anything. Would anyone be so kind as to tell us what are the rules for and catagories of competition and what were the scores of those that won ?

Thanks all
:D :D :D

For my first attempt I was pleased to come away with the winners trophy for first time competiter.

I do not have the final results as these have not been officially published.

The rules we used were the same as those that will be used in this years world champs. That website is:

http://www.hs-wm.at/indexenglisch.htm

Click the "Event" button.

Allot of the information on the Helicopter Club of Great Britain website is in a "Members only" section.

Congratulations to ChitChat on winning the First Time Competitor Trophy.

Well Done Jeep on your very respectable performance in the Navex. :)

Let's remember these guys were competing against professionals, including AAC and CFS pilots.
Respect! http://www.stopstart.btinternet.co.uk/sm/notworthy.gif

[Edit]
Please would you let us have the results when they're published - or the main results if the whole list is too long.
Thanks.

I spent Sunday afternoon driving to leicester to return your trophy, which we won last year (and then polishing it in hotel reception ) so this years winners would have it.

We should have been competing, but had to pull out.

Congratulations on your win.

I hope you had as much fun as we did last year.

Cheers
