BA LGW 737 retirement

I'd love to fly a LGW based BA 737-436 before the type leaves the fleet completely, which is AFAIK scheduled to be complete by June 2015.

I'm aware of a lot of the routes the aircraft flies - LGW - BCN/FCO/VCE etc, but the routes all seem to also be operated by the A320 family which is of course replacing the 737 fleet. Can anyone please tell me a route which has a far higher probability of being operated by a 737?

It's a case of turning up and taking pot luck I know but I thought I'd ask...

i am flying to malta on a 320 but I notice the return is on a 737 back to lgw.
this will be in mid april. look at the ba website for malta for other dates.

BA2632 to Alicante this morning was a B734, as it has been every Monday bar one since the start of the Winter season.

I can't remember when but it was for at least 12 months.

Definitely ALC is a 737. I am booked later this month and it shows 737 for BA2632.

Still very much on track for June. There are only five left in service now and so retaining such a small sub-fleet of aircraft for an extended period of time is a non-starter.

I went to JFK last summer. When I booked it was a 747-400, when I checked in online it was a 747-400, when I went to drop my bag it had morphed into a 777-300! As the OP said "it's a case of turning up and hoping".

Definitely ALC is a 737. I am booked later this month and it shows 737 for BA2632.I suspect it's timetabled as a 737 on all five days that it operates. But judging from recent history, other than Mondays there's a good chance that it will end up being an A319 or A320 on the day.

It's a little different, but I flew on Monarch A300 retirement flight that was organised last April - good way of turning a positioning flight into a money spinner!

We shall see, planning a trip away with the missus....

We had a couple of flights on US Air 734s before they retired them and also a few on UAL 733s and one on a 735 before they went to the scrapper.
This generation of 737 is radidly leaving the fleets, although Southwest still has a small fleet of -500s and a significant number of active -300s in the US.
Grab a flight on one of these while you still can.

Over the years have bagged flights in DOCB, G, J, L, U, V, W, Y, GTBA and BVNO, this last bird being a -4S3 inherited from Dan Air. DOCW has turned up 3 times for me and BVNO twice

My first BA 734 flight was in 1992 in DOCL when it was very shiny and LHR based (on the CGN run) and last being DOCG on a flight back from MRS to LGW in 2012. Most of the LGW flights have been to and from PSA, NAP, VRN and VCE

One has to say that his fleet has certainly earned BA a healthy return on its investment and provided excellent service
