A major fire at Staverton, Gloucestershire, UK has destroyed Dowty Propeller's factory.

Looks like Bombardier may have an issue unless their propellers are dual sourced.

Not just them, this is going to cause a whole heap of problems in the turbo prop world.

The factory was an icon. I can remember it from the 1960s and Cotswold Aeroclub Days. A parachutist landed on the roof once, didn't go through and slid gracefully to the ground, unfortunately sustaining some broken bones.

Their headquarters used to be at Arle Court on the Gloucester Road out of Cheltenham at Hatherley but don't know if they still own them.

They used to supply a lot of mining equipment to the NCB.
