Maybe they need to go back to that tactical approach into BIAP that the C-130's used to do ... :E

Maybe they need to do a risk assessment on their route network. . . . . . .

Capt, you are damned right on that one.

Look, it is this simple. If you choose to operate in a war zone, declared or not, even you are insured to do so, you can expect trouble. MH found out the hard way.

I guess we will never know whether this was a warlike act, or simply an idiot with a firearm using it in much the same way that many idiots the world over use laser pointers.

"Idiots with firearms" pretty much describes the whole mid-east crisis right now. JMHO...........

Certain airlines offer, or used to offer, a $ cash bonus for every rotation into certain "hotspots" around the world, particularly Middle East troubled areas.

I wonder why............

Of course their management will have undertaken a comprehensive risk assessment and found it worthwhile from cost/benefit analysis.

Now isolate the first 4 letters of that last word and consider whether yours is worth the incentive...............?

So, the "brothers" from the security service have stated it is an accident. From that one can assume that a "brother" was responsible for the shot?

Indeed, that is "comforting"

Oh well, not to worry, next rotation is probably somewhere nice . . . like Kabul
