Hi guys,

I am a JAA ATP holder, I am current on A320 and have around 4500 hrs on it. I've passed the FAA written exam last year and now I am planning on having the full FAA ATP.
As far as I understood all I need to do is have a sim check ride on A320 (on an FAA certified simulator with an FAA examiner) to validate my ATP with an A320 rating on it.
Is that how it is and if so do you guys know a place where I can have this happen ?
Thx a lot for your feedback.

Greg

You can't just take the checkride. There has to be a record of ground and flight training and you must have an instructor' signoff for the checkride. See 61.157(b). Most training centers have a short course of a few days of ground school and a few sims to get your ready. Plus to use your ATP to skip the FAA private and commercial your CAA has to validate your license to the FAA. And there is the TSA check.

Dudule54, I'm almost in the exact same position and I'm looking for a partner to do the reduced A320 Type rating course with a training provider in the US.
