Puzzling. It looks like a meteorite and then it doesn't. What does the panel think ?

One hates to be pedantic Mr Jack but that could not possibly be a meteorite, it could however be a meteor(perhaps),it will only become a meteorite when it hits the ground, there it ceases to be a astronomical object and becomes a lump of geology.
Notwithstanding, yer watched it on another site where peeps are describing it in much more exotic terms ie a crashing alien mother ship ejecting a escape pod ect ect.
Tiz a puzzle ,if it is genuine that is.

Have to admit that it does look like a meteor with an ejection seat.

Not one of them early Gloster Meteors that also had bang seats. :p

You've got to feel for the poor conspiracy theorists. Even visiting aliens are spraying them with chemtrails... :}

Either that or the word got around the United Federation of Planets that the third rock from the sun is a good place to dump your out of date space ship....

Isn't it going a tad slow for a meteor???

Re-entering spacecraft. (Note 're'). Light weight parts detaching.

The "experts" elsewhere are pointing out that nobody else has come forward with either video and there are no reports of anybody else seeing this or anything like it..........

I knew as soon as I wrote meteor-ite that I'd be castigated by the Astronimatti amongst us, but by then it was done :) It might be a manmade vehicle, but the fact that the 'orb' that ejected flew off at such speed backwards and was luminescent made me wonder as to what it might be. Maybe it's fake…

If you look at it slowed down, there are several bits where the glowing tail appears to jump in front of the telephone wires. Many others would have seen and recorded this. the Russian one a couple of years ago appeared in the global media quickly and shot from many angles.

the 'orb' that ejected flew off at such speed backwards

Almost-empty tank which had contained fuel/gas/brussel sprouts, heated by reentry, ruptured at end forward to direction of flight, blew off backwards.

Nice one con, I like it :ok:

Sorry for the thread drift, but on a more serious note, getting on for seven and a half thousand pilots worldwide are glad that Martin-Baker did use Gloster Meteors to test their bang-seats and they have been in service for over 60 years, not bad going for the old Meatbox!! :D

Thought MB were still using them.

I did too, but couldn't find proof at the time and the link I posted said stopped flying in 2004, but on re-reading it refers to the Test pilot John Webb, Chief Pilot for QinetiQ based at Llanbedr, Wales. John Webb ceased to fly the Llanbeds Meteor when Llanbedr closed in October 2004. DOH :O

Having had my supper and another search, I confirm that at least the Black one (WL419 and last of nine used by M-B) is still in use and is the oldest serving military aircraft in the world, it has been credited with over 200 ejection seat tests to date.

To answer the question in Mr. Roberts’ video title, the answer is: no. It doesn’t appear that anyone else saw it. There aren’t any pending reports of fireball sightings with the American Meteor Society, and no other eyewitnesses. With 22 million people living in SoCal, it seems odd that not a single one of them also noticed such a spectacle.

Additionally, he didn’t actually supply any relevant information. “Southern California” is a fairly big place, and this doesn’t give more detail about where he was, what direction he was facing, the date, or time of day this was filmed.

The YouTube account was also created on the same day the video was uploaded. However, the UFO video wasn’t uploaded until after he posted a video of seagulls from a trip to New York and watched a bunch of sports videos, which seems like an extremely odd choice of priorities.

It also seems extremely odd that comments are turned off on the video. If you truly believed you saw a UFO crashing to Earth and a mysterious object flying back out to space, wouldn’t you want to hear from others who might have also witnessed it and could have additional information?

Open Minds, a website for UFO enthusiasts, is also skeptical of the video’s claims. They report that after the video was uploaded, someone commented on the video and made Mr. Roberts an offer for use of the video. A short time later, the description on the video changed and stated that exclusive rights to the video belonged to the user who sent the offer. Between the time of their reporting and now, the description of the video has been changed again. There is now no mention of anyone else’s ownership, but it does come with a warning not to re-upload without permission, and the comments are now disabled.

Have to say as far as this being faked, scores no points, after all, about anyone can take a video of a meteor coming through the atmosphere and edited onto any other video, but points for originality must be given for the ejection seat bit. :ok:

But I've never understood why these UFO believers go out of their way to fake these things. Just undermines their cause and lessens any belief if by chance they should ever actually film the real thing.

I've seen at least two UFOs, as I had no clue what the hell they were, but never thought that there were little green men (or women) flying the things, they were, in fact, Unknown Flying Objects. One I was the only one that I know of that saw it and it was probably a ultra-high weather balloon. The other time there were at least three other flight crews that saw what I did, but nobody officially reported it.

Classic example of a Forellen Turbine overload on a Hawker Harridan A3, Blows the Spatchcock flange clean off! Ahem er or so I've been told. :uhoh:
And as my mate used to say Little green men from Mars are nothing, the time to start worrying is when you've got little Brown men coming from Uranus!

Pressure vessel, unused small booster?

Bit of gunk on the screen made the last word look different.

Was going to ask why an unused small rooster would be ejected.

And why he was unused.
