Hi everyone,
like many of you I'm a forty-something "spoiled, lazy and bored" pilot flying in western Europe. A captain even, flying a narrowbody Boeing.
Along come the Chinese carriers, opening bases in my hometown, offering >$200k for non type rated captains to fly their 777's. Sounds like a nice career upgrade to me, but is it?
Sure: the employment conditions are less cushy than in many countries in the EU, no pension, no union, limited days off and sick leave. But how about the money? If I stay in the EU, based at a major EU airport for a Chinese carrier how do the taxes work for example. My taxes now are about half (!!!) of my gross income, so how will the taxman view all my US dollars coming from China?
I would really appreciate any constructive feedback as I am totally clueless :confused:
