Bananas on Qantas [Archive]

Now here's a pretty random question: my MIL went to NZ from LHR via HK a few years ago on Qantas. She claims to have seen a steward carrying a silver platter with individually wrapped bananas rushing through the aisle. The rest of the family maintain this must have been a hallucination.
Does anyone here know if it is/was customary to serve individually wrapped bananas on Qantas?
