It could stupidly easily be happening here too. Airside security is a complete farce.

I think that's a rash generalization. Since 9/11 security has undeniably toughened up. A select few aren't subject to checks and they've managed to (for at least a while) slip through the cracks. Surely this raises concerns for the individuals who don't need to pass through metal detectors

No, it's a specific first hand experience. At least in Australia. Plenty of people pass airside completely unscreened and even the ones who drive vehicles through the security checkpoints are not really checked at all (at least at 1 major Aus international airport).

Edit: And it's not 'a select few'. It can be anyone who gets an ASIC and has a reasonable excuse to be airside.

I'm talking about pretty much anyone who operates outside the terminal but inside the fence.
