Does anybody have additional info on the DC-8-73 currently parked at Ostend with registration OB-2059-P, operated or owned by Peruvian Airlines and leased to Transpacific Heavylift ?

OB-2059-P was flown to Ostend, Belgium on October 16th using Peruvian Airlines call sign. It made one Ebola relief flight to West Africa on October 17th returning to Ostend the same day. It has not operated any flights since.

Supposedly Heavylift is now trying to lease another DC-8-72 freighter, N721CX (cn 46013), from SkyBus Jet Cargo (Las Vegas McCarran).

Has OB-2059-P been grounded perhaps by the Belgium authorities or is it simply waiting for future work ?

It's certainly done the rounds. Started off (as a 63 of course) with Flying Tiger Line (N780FT) back in 1968. Later went on to Cargolux (TF-CCV), Evergreen International (N816EV), UPS (N816UP) and DHL (N807DH).

who said it was leaving in January? Looks like it's stuck.
Officially it's sounds: it's not grounded but "no traffic rights were asked". A bit strange after flying half the world to stand idle at OST. Maybe to be scrapped? Cheap parking?

Been checking for a while but it seems indeed firmly attached to the Ostend ramp. Also not much news I could find regarding N721CX which supposedly was going to be operated by Transpacific Heavylift as well.

OB-2059-P will hopefully be on the move soon back to USA.

A very reliable source that cannot be divulged at this stage and "soon" means in the next couple of weeks (hopefully).

Me too, haven't seen a DC-8 airborne for many years.

For any virtual radar aficionados, its ICAO24 is AAFC31 (corresponding to its previous identity, N807DH, while flying for DHL in the US)

She is still firmly attached to the Ostend apron. Been almost 6 months now since the one and only revenue flight. I assume after spending the entire winter parked outside, that a fair amount of maintenance would need to take place before it can depart.

On related news, I found the following update on N721CX (DC-8-72).

It has been reported that Transpacific Heavylift ferried N721CX to San Antonio (KROW) on March 27th for painting.

From a photo here: DC-8 revival? (http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?134747-DC-8-revival)

It looks as if it has been re-registered to N782SP to be operated for an outfit called Samaritan's Purse in Africa.

Not sure who the actual operator of the DC-8 is and where the crews come from. The FAA database shows N782SP as registration pending without any details.

And from ABQ it proceeded to Roswell NM, to where many DC-8s have flown but few have departed again.

Look at page 1 post 1, and I think you can answer your own question as to the connection.

There is no connection with Heavylift and N807DH.
