Didn't one appear at Farnborough some years ago? Along with their little jobbie, the Mi-34 was it?

Yeah it seems to be a while since one has been over, never seen one in the flesh & would like to just see how much of a monster it actually is.

Similar in size to a C130 would about describe it.

One also went to the Helicopter International show at Redhill on 20 Sep 1989.
CCCP06917 turned up, with several other machines including Hip H CCCP95043,along with a Hind E, Havoc, and Helix. Quite a day out!

What really impressed me was being able to walk inside the Halo. Imagine a C130 fuselage with a rotor to get the effect! This was in the days when the Rusians were first starting to visit UK shows, so their novelty value was quite a draw.

Remember the Mil-10 at Gatwick? The Russians sure turn out some interesting helicopters.

Had one in UN colours fly into Akrotiri when i was over there. Having spent years on herc's i can confirm it's a herc with rotorbades instead of props.
Rtaher large for a rotary but it seems to do the job

No, but I certainly wish I'd known and managed to see it!

I think the only Russian helicopter I ever saw prior to Glastnost was a Polish-built Mil-2 that ADS operated for a short while in the late 1970s.

The Mil V-12 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_V-12) was astonishing, I'd like to have seen that flying as well...
