Some advice please from those in the industry. My son would like to find employment in a ground ops role. However he is concerned about whether a medical condition would prevent this. As a child and young teenager he suffered with nocturnal epilepsy. That was controlled by medication which he still takes but he has been seizure free for 5 years. He holds a full driving licence and otherwise leads an normal active life. Would his condition prevent employment in a ground ops role such as a line agent? Many Thanks

Would depend on company and airport would think, We used to have a ramp agent who had epilepsy, but was limited in what he was allowed to do

scr1 is correct. The medical restrictions depend on the job he goes for. If the role requires an airside driving permit, the aerodrome operator/handling agent may put on restrictions that they deem fit ie allowed to drive on apron areas only.

If he will be using specialist equipment such as air bridges etc then there may also be some restrictions. Best thing to do is find a job he wants to go for and then contact the company well in advance of applying to get the information.
