Please let us not forget Audrey Hepburn. Born Edda van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston in Brussels, 1929.

Why is there not a wistful sigh smiley?

Sorry, but this years sprout crop is unusable so far, according to my mums rules anyway (and they are right).

You can't get a decent Brussels Sprout until you've had a frost on the crop, simple as that.

We had a frost last night - and another is forecast for tonight.

No, a nice deep freeze would do much better, say around -50c. That would work. :E

Serve as a salad. Halved, lightly steamed so they stay crunchy then into the fridge. Toss with olive oil, crushed garlic, balsamic vinegar, capers, parsley and crispy bacon or lardons.

Use lime juice instead of balsamic if you want it less sweet.

I think that as many people dislike the little critters, then we should try and educate the public in the goodness factor of sprouts. Therefore I suggest we should come up with alternative ways of devouring them, ie. Put 50 sprouts in a blender, whizz thoroughly and pour into a pint mug. Devour but don`t leave the house. Alternatively, slice sprouts on a mandolin and place in a wholemeal sandwich. There`s two ideas. Any more? :ok:
