RAF memorials given £400,000 in George Osborne's Autumn Statement | Politics | News | Daily Express (http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/542940/RAF-memorials-400000-George-Osborne-Autumn-Statement)

This is very good news. With only around 60 heroes of the BoB left, it is fitting that they will all be remembered at their 75th anniversary of the battle next year and to represent those who have gone to rest.

As a nine year old I witnessed their courage, often above my house, which was just about a mile from Croydon. Then went on to meet some of them in 2000, when they attended a Gatbash, who had fought with 501 Squadron. Yes, good news that they will once again receive the accolades they richly deserve. They will NEVER be forgotten.

Excellent. :D A good informative article, to boot.
(Support for RAFBF always good, as too RAFA if possible.)

At the risk of being churlish, it's put into context by the £10m that IPSA effectively, gave the MPs pension fund recently, which wasn't quite as loudly announced. I think banking fines are going to be saving Treasury blushes for quite a bit yet.

All very good news though, sustained and meaningful investment towards remembering and regretting so much dreadful loss is long overdue.

I hope some of it will go to the likes of Shoreham museum, in case you do not know.
In 2006 they took it upon themselves to build memorials to all of the Battle of Britain pilots that fell within a 10 mile radius of the museum, and they have been steadily working their way through the not so inconsiderable list.
