Like all your videos, brilliant - I thoroughly enjoy them.

One question for PPruners, though. The 'whistle' associated with some Spitfires (and I think Hurricanes) during flypasts has always had me wondering what causes it. Years ago someone mentioned superchargers as the cause but I was never sure about that. The 'whistle' is particularly noticeable with this aircraft.

Anyone know (as opposed to speculate!) on the source?

IIRC, the "whistle" was caused by the radiator fitted (Serck?). Once the two stage Merlin was fitted, there was a different radiator used (Morris?), which eliminated that sound. "Spitfire, Story of a Famous Fighter" mentions it in passing.

(I hope I got that right, hate to tell you how old I was when I read that.)

The pronounced whistle from N3200 is caused by the non-standard, oversized rear-view mirror fairing on top of the windscreen
