So Brisbane will be in chaos as a result of having all these blasted politicians and their security goons around. Surely there's some nice isolated spot in the outback where it would be easy to provide security without all the goons and there wouldn't be a need to shut roads and so on and inconvenience the public. Woomera perhaps? Or the middle of the Nullarbor plain?

How do you think we feel when similar events screw up central London.

I agree with you...stick em out in the boondocks for at the end of the day what have they acheived?

Been watching the results of this jamboree.

Ebola ? Throw money at it. Sorted.

World Economy ? On Track. Sorted.

Climate Change ? Throw money at it. Sorted.

Ukraine ? Be rude to Putin. Sorted.

These "leaders" seem to believe all they have to do is make a pronouncement and it happens. Just like that. Must be what happens when everyone around you tells you you are "powerful".

Yep,they should buy an island somewhere with an airport and no local population and go there everytime they want to do one of these w*ankfests.

The US Secret Service wanted to get a roundabout demolished near Queensland Uni because it would slow down Obama's motorcade slightly as he arrived to deliver a speech. They were told "no chance"

Harper says to Putin " I'll shake your hand but have only one thing to say to you, Get out of the Ukraine."

and Putin is leaving early on Sunday now. Nothing to do with Harper who has suddenly grown a pair.

Russia's military mini-fleet in the SoPac continues on in case the military ships need to study climate warming in Antarctica. Good thing they brought a tug along.

Russia now says Putin is not leaving.

I guess there are good reasons but, to me, the solution would be to charter a cruise ship with a helideck, (or an aircraft carrier with accommodation modules and conference facilities on the hangar deck!). In fact there is enough money within the G20 to have a purpose built ship, multi owned and available for all these conferences that attract the great unwashed, unemployable along for a riot, sorry, demonstration.

Maybe they could hire the giant white UN submersible aircraft carrier, here she is being nudged into her berth in the Antarctic.

From what I can gather, this pretty much sums up the 'majority opinion'. At least he'll go home knowing where he stands

The Aus PM (Mr Rabbit) really put on a magnificent show in his opening address, boasting to the worlds leaders of his victories in domestic election issues.

They must have wondered if they were in the right meeting.

Yes James...he is embarrassing, and his ineptitude shows...if only we could be spared from statements littered with Umms and Ahhhs, if he could actually string together a coherent, sensible sentence...:ugh:

To be fair maybe he does now, I just switch channels / stations, I'd rather hear nothing, than listen to the lies...

Not directly affected by G20, except Thursday night, when coming home for work I was caught in the mass exodus leaving Brisbane to spend the G20 holiday Friday, down here on the Coast. :ugh:

Funny thing is for 10 months they have been telling us all about their special powers, right down to how the whole CBD and Southbank precinct will be shut down....even flying a kite in a suburban park with your kids on a Sunday afternoon was going to be an offence!!!

....Then the footage showed a City utterly devoid of people, except lines & lines of Police.....a dreadful look indeed, so that had the State level LNP compulsive liar 'Eel' Newman & Brisbane City Council LNP compulsive liar Mayor 'Quirk' encouraging people to visit the City.....so that it didn't lookk so very LNP Police State! Funny indeed, and again the ineptitude is remarkable, not surprising, but remarkable...:hmm:

Six thousand (6000) coppers, a heap flown up from interstate......the enormity of expense to put this on........methinks Smokin' Joe may have been telling a few lies about the real state of the economy....lies from Hockey???? :D again, remarkable,...but not surprising! :hmm:

Anyway I do think telling the US secret Service "to go jump" when they wanted a local road altered to save 1.5 second travel time was warranted (FFS!! as the kids say / text! :O)

Why is this little 'w*nkfest', as someone above termed it, not held everytime at the UN building???...It would make sense would it not? Or on the (above suggested) cruise boat??...Well no actually the UN building is already there...

I'm most certain we'll never learn the true cost of putting this little soiree on, and the 'economic benefits' will all be revealed via an (LNP appointed) 'specialist', hopefully with a little more credibility than the ones appointed to 'go over' the 2010 figures :yuk:

....Oh, also feel sorry for all the small business and others that had to absorb the losses of an added public holiday, and loss of clientele.....

Fleigs, I share your concern about the costs of this talkfest. But cast your mind back and ask who was the Prime Minister who positively gloated in smug self-satisfaction when he gleefully announced to the nation that he had "scored" the 2014 G20 meeting for Australia?

You guessed it. Kevni. The very same Kevni you seem to greatly prefer to the (your words) "incompetent, embarrassing" incumbent.

I recall there was a CHOGM thingy in Melbourne when I got stuck there yonks ago. Same deal with cops everywhere because, similar to the situation now, the security dudes know that everybody would be pleased to see every one of these arseholes bumped off.

You're dead right '7', the lil' bugger most likely thought he'd be around to address it! :p:D:D

Yes, "incompetent, embarrassing" is the incumbent '7', too right, you left out comically inept, arrogant, ignorant and inarticulate :ok:

there was one of these wa*kfests in Chicago the other year. I was flying home: I had a BA Gold Card and the lady in the lounge told me "You can go in First Class lounge if you like, but I wouldn't advise it. It's full of low life on their way home from the NATO summit'

She had them weighed up......

Helicopter them into Heard Island and forget to helicopter them out....

The G8/7 is a group of the worlds largest arms dealers. The G20 is the largest arms dealers and their best customers.
To think that they went there to hug Koala bears is naivety at best ,willfull blindness at worst.
As they vote to boost the worlds economy, what percentage of that boost will be more arms sales ?
War is business and business is good.

What a wasted opportunity to sit down and improve global peace and harmony, rather than ratchet up the tensions with rhetorical speeches that nobody will remember.

...And just what do you have against Heard Island Mr Radeng? It's a pristine spot and pretty much unspoilt, so why would you want to inflict this mob of gusset sniffing inadequates on the place?

So Brisbane might have been a little "empty" while this is on, but WAY preferable to the sights of riots, burning cars, looting, violence, flares, teargas and all the stuff that goes wherever the professional troublemakers go.

Maybe Oz was just a bit far for them to hitch-hike.

Full marks to Tony et al, ran a slick show.

Zero marks to the aussies of a shade closer to the dark side of the spectrum, burning flags and getting incensed over the comment that it was "just bush" before colonisation. They want their land back, they can have it, but they have to live on it without the dole or Abstudy or any kind of support from those nasty colonists. Let them chase kangaroos and live naked in the bush with no electricity, pubs or TV, they are welcome to it.

Go on Fleigs get it out of your system, you will feel better.

You guessed it. Kevni. The very same Kevni you seem to greatly prefer to the (your words) "incompetent, embarrassing" incumbent.

The G20 is a cross party supported thing, and is regarded as well worth the hassle in the long term. regardless of what we think of it, thats how the cards fall.

The G8/7 is a group of the worlds largest arms dealers. The G20 is the largest arms dealers and their best customers.

Can't really argue about that.

What a wasted opportunity to sit down and improve global peace and harmony, rather than ratchet up the tensions with rhetorical speeches that nobody will remember.

Isn't it the same result, a waste of time. peace and harmony, FFS not going to happen for several centuries. We'll be lucky to get though the next 50 years with out a major.

If we can hold it together and maintain some resemblance of order for the next 100 years or so, then maybe, just maybe we can start looking at peace and harmony across the world.

SRT,

They wouldn't spoil Heard Island for long. Didn't say anything about tents or food or generators or cooking equipment or fishing lines.....

Might need to send a clean up brigade to dump the bodies, although probably even sharks would turn their noses up at that lot....Maybe not sea lions, though.

Most interesting that you should say that Ascend Charlie. A long time ago I once was bailed up by one of our indigenous bretheren who called me a white****, told me I should **** off back from whence I came, give his land back etc etc. You get the idea.

I quietly told him that even though I and the last four generations of my Family had been born here in Australia I would be only too pleased to leave the country, provided that I and others of my ilk could take all whitefella inprovements etc. Indeed we would only be too pleased to leave them with an entirely vacant landscape, ie no power stations, no dams, no houses, no supermarkets, no cars, no service stations! Oh, and that included no social security payments, no pubs, no booze, 'NO NUTHIN!!' (As they say in the classics:E)

At this, I was distracted by a Lady Friend who asked me if I wanted another drink. When I looked back, the person had disappeared!

Can't see the point in lobbing these shysters off to tropical island for their annual pow-wow.

Up north there's a mighty big island with less than 50.000 people on it. On the NW coast is a rather large airbase, Thule, where not a single Muhammed praiser would dare go for fear of freezing off their gonads, and neither would the huggy-fluff brigades. What's more, it would provide a steady income for the locals, now they've found their gold, iron and uranium deposits cannot be extracted, either because of economy or politics.

Best of all, any politician out for a leisurely stroll might well end up as polar bear supper. Except Frau Merkel. We likes Frau Merkel rather a lot.
