Asiana have been ordered to suspend it's SFO flights (http://atwonline.com/safety/asiana-ordered-suspend-flights-sfo-45-days-over-crash), over it's crash there.

Any truth to the rumour that fellow Star Alliance member United, sent over their Checkies and CRM team to iron out the huge issues, pointed out in the investigation?

A question for those there who may know: What has changed and been learnt there since?

If this is an example of a regulator growing a pair and attempting to be a world-class organization, fine. They have much to answer for in the past, particularly KAL's well-known deficits.

If this is an example of a regulator trying to save face, with a big contribution from the ferry disaster, not so much.

I suspect the latter. What's the point of screwing up the market for 45 days? Fine 'em 2 years profit, whatever, but why cause layoffs of the folks in SFO? So KAL can put an A380 into SFO for 45 days? Or OZ can put one into LAX and shuttle pax up the coast?

What about the freighters? OZ runs 6/week through SFO. Truck all their stuff to LAX and overfly SFO to ANC? That's particularly helpful...
