A Traveller Mk I, UK military variant of the Beechcraft Model 17 "Staggerwing". In U.S. Army as the UC-43 and Navy as the GB-1.

Beech Staggerwing possibly tho not aware any on RAFs inventory...just checked wiki and it appears we had bout 100 of em!

I think one of them must have filtered south to Southern Rhodesia. There was one based at the Mount Hampden Flying Club in 1965.

Most went to the FAA, not the RAF

The RAF ones were used in the Middle East. For example, FL653 was with the Aden Com Flt. FL659 - FL670 were lost at sea on the way to the Middle East. FZ428 - FZ439 also served in the Middle East.
