Close thing though according to a passenger quoted.

"If it had been seconds later after we had lifted off, it would have been disaster for us".:hmm: Those dratted low flying buffaloes.

"Meanwhile, SpiceJet has decided to suspend its operations at the Surat Airport following the breach of security by a buffalo."

I hope the DFT don't notice this incident, or they will be rifling through our flight bags for buffalo next :p

If it weren't so scary, it wouldHaving flown be funny. Having flown from many airports in India, I am not terribly surprised. But it disappointing that India continues to make mistakes that makes its goal of achieving the reputation as a leading nation nearly impossible. There is no excuse for this whatsoever.

Would I be correct in thinking cows have right of way over in that part of the world. If so it should be permanently NOTAM`d.

According to India Today, the airport authorities had not noticed a breach in the airport fence that was used by the buffalo to get inside the airport premises. As it was already very dark, it was not possible for anyone to spot the buffalo on the runway, the report adds. Nevertheless, the Indian civil aviation ministry has taken serious note of the issue and disciplinary action is likely to follow. The unfortunate buffalo did not survive the impact.

Spice Buffalo Wings! Apart from the joke,I am glad that that the outcome was good.Very poor standards of safety and security on all airports in India.Including the major cities.Sorry to say that. But the conditions of the tarmac in Dheli or Mumbai are terrible too.:ugh:
