A mate came back from an Aussie port this morning. He mentioned to me that they were "asked" not to start refueling before midnight local time because the new November fuel price was much lower than the October price (and once they start, the higher price would be charged).

Apparently it wasn't a big deal at all, but perhaps someone forgot to mention the lower costs in the latest bulletin?

That would be fantastic news if they hadn't hedged at a much higher price...

Brace yourselves for financial losses on hedging.

Not to worry though, your profit share should cover for it, and the 3rd floor is working on Flaps up landings and a NETI (No Engines Taxi In) procedure, involving inertia taxying to the gate, which should save boatloads of gas to compensate for mismanag... er... unforeseeable adverse factors.

The practice of loading fuel before or after midnight depending on the price change has been happening for about 4 years. Not new - old hat.
