Hi,

on behalf of an investor I am looking for a plane to buy. I did not select any specific model yet, perhaps you will be able to help me with that. Here are the requirements:

- 2 seater (preferably tandem)
- brand new
- certified
- single piston/turboprop
- as fast as possible (min. 350-400 km/h cruise speed)
- retractable gear
- easy access to service in Germany/Poland/Czech Republic

Thanks!

400 km/h isn't very fast, but here's a couple:

Embraer Defesa & Segurança (http://www.embraerds.com/english/content/combat/tucano_origin.asp)

What's the budget? And why the 2 seat and retractible gear fetish? You don't normally see the landing gear and rear seats while you are flying. If 4 seats and fixed gear are ok there's the Corvalis

Cessna TTx - The fastest fixed gear single engine plane in the world (http://cessna.txtav.com/en/single-engine/cessna-ttx)

or the Mooney Acclaim

PC IX or XXI are the best options, will cost a bit, but the fun factor is off the scale!!!

Pilatus PC-7 or -9, I don't think the -21 is offered to the general public. SF260 in all its reincarnations remains a side-by-side trainer while the AT6 Texan II is a ugly US copy of the PC-9. Another candidate could be the Turbo Orlik or some leftover RAF Tucano (one in private hands in the US, displayed by patty Wagstaff, I think).

As a matter of fact, Switzerland and France boast few -7 in private hands i.e. the Adecco's aerobatic display team (former Martini Team and Ecco...).

Hi,

thank you for your answers.

Unfortunately, it turns out that Orlik is not generally offered for civilians. If it is than this will be really hard to register such a plane. I still need to contact Pilatus but I am afraid that the situation with their PC-7/9 will be similar.

In the meantime I have found Bear 360 and Thunder Mustang (kit). Do you know anything about these aircrafts?

Thanks!

p.s - the budget is around 500 000$

I know turboprop was specified, but, what about an L-39?

Thanks 340drvr!

This looks pretty interesting. I tried to call the producer (L39-ng.cz - L-39NG Next generation (http://www.l-39ng.cz)) but nobody responds. Do you have any information about this plane?

I am interested in price, operating costs and what is the most important - is it possible to use by civilians?

Aero L-39 Albatros - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_L-39_Albatros)

A lot of civilian use..

If operating costs are a concern, Captain, then an L-39 is not for you. Figure in the neighborhood of $2,000/hr (USD).

What's your mission or required range?

on behalf of an investor I am looking for a plane to buy I would have thought that the first question would be "what will it be used for?" and the second question for an investor " what is the resale value?"

Get a tucano. And then let me have a go.

F-GYSF PILATUS PC-7 - Courtesy Aircraft (http://www.courtesyaircraft.com/index.php/inventory/inventory/warbirds-trainers/item/f-gysf-pilatus-pc-7)

This one is not new but already in Civilian hands and on the register in France.

I saw an RFB Fantrainer 600 at Freiburg that looked like a lot of fun.

I second that; they look very nippy in 600hp form.

Thank you guys for all your answers!

The person who is going to fly this plane as a passenger is a frequent business traveler (max. 1000 km). Time is the key here. What we are trying to compare is: cost of an airline ticket in business class + lost time for transportation to the international airport (150 km from our place), waiting time and time of the flight VS. costs of doing the same route in own aircraft (taking into account whole operating costs + lease payment) + lost time for transportation to local airport (we have two here - 30 km to a bit bumpy grass airfield, 60 km to concrete runway) and time of the flight.

We already did some initial calculations. Unfortunately, because of the distance to the concrete runway (more lost time) we have to resign with jets. It turns out that the ideal candidate will be a plane worth around 500 000$ (might be a bit more), fast as hell (at least 400 km/h cruise speed) and able to take off from 800 m bumpy grass strip.

Thanks!

Have you considered the yearlt WX pattern in the area?

I've seen this ending in tears many times, the region where I am from being populated by many small and medium-ish enterpreneurs always keen to show off their latest gadget.

Er, why would a 'businessman' want to sit in the back of a 'tandem' turboprop or piston 'fast as hell' 400KMH Aircraft.

Which is well, not fast.

This is all very weird, are you perhaps getting confused thinking about cars maybe ?

Because he asked for it. Is not that obvious?

400km/h is a compromise, usually faster planes are too expensive to buy and maintain.

If you are considering the Thunder Mustang, then you are considering non-certificated as well as certificated.

If this is so, then you may want to look at the Lancair IVP and the Turbine Legend.

http://https://www.facebook.com/turbinelegend

Both these aircraft can be obtained within your budget and certainly meet the performance requirements that you have stipulated wrt speed and range. I'm not sure of their runway requirements though. 800m might just be within their capabilities but I am not certain.

The IVP would certainly give your man some space as it is a 4 seater, whereas the Turbine Legend is a 2 seat tandem but with a fairly big cockpit.
