Not all sites but some I use a lot at work - you download it and it comes down OK with the file name - but no extensions such as .pdf. .docx etc etc - so I either rename it or have to "OPEN WITH" every time
No problems with IE or Chrome
Any ideas why??

I gave up with FF and a large download of satnav updates. Had to use IE. Can't find what FF did with the download, despite all of Google's best help.
Just maybe, Harry? windows 7 - Firefox saves the file without extension - Super User (http://superuser.com/questions/525346/firefox-saves-the-file-without-extension)

Use the DownThemAll addon with FF - see if that solves the problem.

This would appear to cover your problem:
Filenames with spaces are truncated upon download - MozillaZine Knowledge Base (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Filenames_with_spaces_are_truncated_upon_download)
i.e. it's a server problem.

Gawd Bless you Suh!
changing the settings in Options doesn't work but the TRUNCFIX extension DOES work
That's going to save me a bucket load of time
