Heard yesterday that CX dry leased a Freighter to ABC to carry their iPhones contracts due a lack of crew.

Not sure a dry lease would assist a crew shortage issue:bored:

Found some answers to it
If u Search: was originally bought by Cathay, but transferred to AirBridgeCargo.

Seems like more lost opportunities as the freight markert rebounds.

Penny wise pound foolish. Vote No!

The BCF a/c are anything but penny wise. !! CX are well rid I would imagine.

Heavier than a production freighter. And a total balls up from the offset with false cargo fire warnings hence severely restrictedin the carriage of tdp. The conversion may have been cheap. The running costs thereafter vs an ERF for example less so. Which is why they are parked in the desert or given to ahk or our wonderful air China colleagues.

Actually the 747-8F is one originally assigned to CX but for delivery 2016 as per our last order. Boeing are desperate to fill their 747 production slots therefore this one was assigned to CX even though they want it in 2016. Boeing found someone else who wanted one so they took it. CX will still get one in 2016 as they want.
