Well done to the crew for a safe evacuation.....

Fire forces evacuation of passenger plane at Karachi airport ? The Express Tribune (http://tribune.com.pk/story/771384/passenger-plane-makes-emergency-landing-in-karachi-after-catching-fire-mid-air/)

At around 7:45 pm, just as flight EK 609 was due to depart, the pilot called for emergency assistance soon after he had started backing off the Airbus 320, officials said.

That's the biggest A320 I ever saw. ;)

Glad things went well with the evac! :ok:

A6-EAQ I believe.

Bloggs it is Eid, so perhaps thats why the load was light. Generally the flights are full and EK has about 6 flights a day to KHI.

From the pic. it looks more like a A330-200 than 320.My guess

Definitely one of the old and tired A330 that EK insists on flying until they fall apart!

Get off it mate, the oldest of those aircraft is 1999 vintage, and that's not 'old' in aviation terms, and certainly light years from 'falling apart'. Do agree the cabins are looking tired, but that's fixable - if EK wanted to.

Considering the aircraft was on a OPKC service, the interior was probably just weeks old as it is and as for the smoke. Kudos to the crew.

The A330 is soon to leave EK...so there is no desire to upgrade the interior. But as far as maintence goes, they are well looked after and realatively new.

This is not an old A/C, if you want old check out Jet 2 in UK. I fly EK on a more than monthly basis and some a/c seem a little tired, but I have yet to fly in anything which compares with older BA types I have flown in the past.
