I am trying to get some info on Rome Fiumicino airport transfers.

The website is a waste of time.

I have tried to speak with my hotel but the phone line was so bad I could only get every other word!

What I would like to know is there a hotel shuttle bus that runs around the airport hotels?

We are arriving around 21.00 terminal 3 and the hotel is about 6km from terminal.

I don't know if a taxi would be happy, like the chaps at Heathrow, with such a short journey.

Any one know?

Thanks.

I did that journey 5 or 6 years ago twice in 10 days. No hotel shuttle and had to take a taxi.

The first time the taxi driver grumbled, the second time the meter read over double the charge of the first time. Even intervention by the hotel staff didn't change his mind that I needed to pay what was on the meter, but there was a lot of arm waving and winking going on.

So, in my experience, take a taxi but check that the meter is set to zero before you set off

Which hotel? I stayed at the Sheraton a few years ago, and they had a shuttle to Rome and to the airport.

I'm not aware of one that goes around all the airport hotels, but there's a fair chance the hotel itself will have its own.

Thanks for replies. I have managed to get a reply from the hotel, although it went in my junk mail, and they have a car service so problem solved.

My experience was that the taxi sharks are only interested in doing runs in to central Rome, want to go to a local hotel they'll ask for the equivalent of a central Rome fare.

On a positive note hire cars were/are dirt cheap in FCO, I think I booked through Holiday Autos, much cheaper than a taxi.
