Incredible ! Wht didn't he get a AFM - it's well worth it - to go with his DFM ?
He died near Sale on 18 March 1944, when his bicycle collided with a bus. :(
You couldn't invent it.

The fact that he got a serious bollocking and stoppages of pay for chatting about the incident to the press soon after probably dented any chance of an AFM.

Strange and sad that both pilots eventually died in collisions. One in a Hudson when he collided with a tree, and the other on a bicycle when he collided with a bus. It seemed that fate would have its way.

I read it to say the Nav died in the Hudson crash.
