Can you please help indentify this part of MH17.
Is it part of the front landinggear? The left photo shows the part which for sure was found at the site where the cockpit was found. Here is wheels of the front landinggear was found.
Is the right photo the same part as the left photo?
What is the name of this part? And anybody has a picture showing the position of this part once the landinggear has been fully retracted as in flight?

A pity the moderators as always have a weird sort of moderation. Hoped to get as much attention as possible by posting in rumours and news. The message was deleted. Then tried Tech Log. Message moved to Spotters Balcony. Just cannot imagine by someone objects to posting messages like this one. I really try to find out what happened.
By locating this part maybe based on the hole in it we are able to locate where the missile exploded.

Thanks to Twiter I found out it is an actuator. Probably the nose gear actuator. Looking for images/drawings for its position in flight!

To be fair to the moderators this is a professional pilots rumour network. Whilst everyone is welcome, rumours and news is for exactly that, rumours and news about the industry. Tech Log is for technical questions. The MH17 thread ran for pages, with every conspiracy theory in the book on it.

I do not want to start a discussion about moderation because, well, it might get moderated because of that. I believe some very good posts (not by me) have been deleted in MH370 and MH17 thread just because the moderator believed it was conspiracy. Some obvious were, but in both cases you need to think out of the box. Moderation is not pushing your own opinion. Also this seems no place for critism of moderators.

After quite some research and helped by many on Twitter the conclusion is that this part is most likely cargo of MH17.

It does not match the nose landing gear retract actuator of a B777.
It is weird that both sides of the actuator are not connect to another part.
MH17 did have aircraft parts (only 2.0 kg) and helicopter parts on the cargo manifest.

The cockpit and a about 10 meters of the fuselage came down in one part. Most likely this part was loaded in the forward cargo compartment under the passenger floor.

It does not match the nose landing gear retract actuator of a B777.

Are you sure? I'd say it was a pretty good likeness:

....Erm, No it isn't.

Look at the part in the Boeing manual, it has the twin yoke on the ram, whilst the single hinge stab is on the body.

The part in the picture has the single stab on the ram and the twin yoke is on the body.

How it appears in the Manual is how it is in life.

Tight configuration control is employed for such complex assemblies as aircraft (& road vehicles) to ensure compatibility between different part revisions & simply cannot tolerate such a radical change of configuration at key interface points.

On a video made at the MH17 crashsite an interesting fact showed up. The video shows what could be part of the roof of the cockpit.
The part shows several damages which could be fragments.

Can anyone confirm where this part is located? Could this be the roof? Based on the white colour I guess it cannot be a part underneath the nose.
