WLG to OOL and also ZQN to OOL, both 3 times weekly starting in dec.

Wonder if they've reduced services elsewhere or it is extra flying?

Freedom operated WLG to OOL i think. AirNZ didnt continue on with it, maybe JQ can make a better go of it.

JQ did it twice a week(Mon & Fri) a few years back in winter only I think it was & it was an absolute disaster.

How do we know ?

Cos we flew it using Qantas ff pts in school holidays & flights was no where near full, probably 1/2 full if that.

Told many other people who also used their Qantas pts on other dates & said same thing.

JQ should fly BNE/ZQN not OOL/ZQN.

OOL is a pain in the butt for BNE pax. With 2 lots of stupid (non)security to go thru at OOL as well. (ie. security to get into domestic departures & then security again to get into international departures)

With a 0745 departure ex OOL for ZQN, it won't attract a lot of BNE pax, as they would need to start driving from BNE at 0400 & so get out of bed at 0300 or earlier.

VA/NZ do up to 10 return nonstop flights a week in winter & only opposition is a lonely QF flight once a week for something like 10 weeks a year only. This QF flight may even be scrapped.

Maybe JQ will announce BNE/ZQN later ?

I wonder if it will be OOL based crew who get to do it or NZ based like all the other Trans Tasman flying??

Not all QF trans-Tasman flying is NZ-based.

Great news, now J* can cart the bogans off to the 'Goldie'. :ok:

Apart from the odd ZQN Jetstar flight originating in AUS, all other Jetstar Trans Tasman flying originates in NZ

Looking at the timings I can only assume it will be OOL based crew flying it with an 0700 departure, unless of course they nightstop NZ crews?? In other words, who would know.

Wrong Hooroo. Just two days ago I flew QF 121 SYD to ZQN.

A Qantas 737-800 with VH registration and all-Australian crew led by Captain Andrew Simpson.

Apart from additional (Jetconnect) flights that were put on during the ski season, QF 121 and 122 are the real deal, and I hope it stays that way as I am a fairly frequent flyer on that route.

On track that's great I'm sure you had a wonderful flight. Not sure what it has anything to do with me talking about Jetstar not QANTAS. And yes I am aware that Jetstar is part of QANTAS before you throw that in your next post :ugh:

Hey buzzz I thought jetstar Japan was supposed to be performing well?? They seem to be opening up new routes on a steady basis since it started

Yeah Jetstar Japan losing 70 million for the year could be regarded as performing well but I would rather say it is performing crap, can't base a domestic carrier out of Narita, anyone in Japan would know this, but hey they might lose less next year!

OK, just to clarify -- It was a Qantas flight with Sydney-based cabin crew, and presumably Sydney-based tech crew.

The registration was VH-XZC.

Yes it was a great flight. It always is. Qantas is unquestionably my preferred carrier on that route.

Hooroo, it wasn't obvious to me in your first post that you were referring only to JQ. Personally I don't think of Jetstar as part of Qantas -- it's more of a parasite on Qantas.

Wouldn't it be funny if Jetconnect had a captain called Andrew Simpson. Oh wait they do!

On track, no worries. Glad we cleared that up... As for jetstar being a parasite of QANTAS, I'm sure a lot of bogans would disagree :ok:

Great news, now J* can cart the bogans off to the 'Goldie'.

jq will be carting kiwi bogans off the goldie more like. one way trips.

lots of unemployed kiwis stuck there causing trouble, ineligible for benefits and cant afford the ticket home.

who says the nation (oz) needs qf to survive in times of humanitarian need? :E

yes, the great inequity; Aussie's come here and are eligible for support straight away, Kiwi's get treated like second class citizens there.

BTW, I wish someone else would start doing trans Tasman to NZRO; twice a week to SYD is a waste of time, especially as most Kiwi's want to go to BNE or MEL

its not kiwis they've aimed it at
