Has any body noticed the similarity between the recent mid air break up of a China Air 747-200 and the TWA accident in July 1996. I cant help but think the suspect centre fuel pumps may have been at fault again. Both aircraft were 200s both were very old and both were in cruise or near TOC condition. I have several friends that work for China does any body have any info.

TWA800 was a much older -100 series and nowhere near TOC, although the centre fuel tank installation is very similar.

I thought that the American military shot down TWA 800

You can guess all you like but it's no substitute for waiting until the tin-kickers have done their stuff and released their report.

I'll leave it to the experts to sort out the jigsaw.

For 250 odd passengers on a flight that length, I doubt they would have had any fuel in the centre tank;unless they were tankering to save a few bob in HKG.
