Hi there,

I am new to this forum. I am very passionate towards being a Commercial pilot. I had this idea of taking up flying classes, but had to get an engineering degree because of my parents. I am currently an IT professional but deep down, I am never happy with myself. I hell know being a commercial pilot is what I want to be in life..!!

I had bronchial asthma from my childhood but now its intensity totally reduced. I am 24 years old and it does not affect me much now.

My question here is: Does existence or history of Bronchial asthma stop me from pursuing my dream. Will I be rejected from getting a Class I medical exam??

I tried looking up in the guidelines given by DGCA. It explains about COPD but I am not sure about Bronchial asthma. Who other than you people, are better to ask this question..! :)

Please help me...!! Before I start building up false hopes on becoming a commercial pilot. I already have struggled years on fighting with myself and my family convincing that this is what I want to do..

Thanks.

Given below are links to the lists of class 1 and 2 medical examiners respectively.

CLASS II MEDICAL EXAMINERS LIST (http://www.dgca.nic.in/medical/class2-ind.htm)

You can contact any of them for a professional opinion.

Almost all pilots go for a medical assessment before starting their training so that they can be free of worries about medical fitness and protect their career investments.

Good Luck!

@Billboard: Thank you very much for the list of doctors :)

I would try contacting them for an opinion. But I am not sure, to what extent they would entertain me just for an opinion than the tests themselves. I don't feel its good time for me to take the test because, I am over weight than prescribed. I have to work on it first.

However, It would be great if somebody suggests about this.

Thanks.
