I've just been required to enter APIS info on a Schengen internal flight from MLA to BRU with Air Malta. Been flying this route for years and never had to do it. Last time was two weeks ago and they didn't ask. Do you think this is this a new requirement to do with the situation in Syria or a bug in the Air Malta web check in? If the former I don't recall it ever being announced.

I'd say it's a bug. In any case neither Belgium nor Malta require APIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_Passenger_Information_System) for non-schengen passengers.

That is unless the Belgiums have decided to implement it in some shape or form.

Yes, can't see the point really. There's no passport check at any point so it's not like they can cross-reference the APIS data to the document you are travelling with. Unless they are just looking for anomalies and then pick people out at the airport. Will get a screen shot next week and email Air Malta about it.
