Just heard from a colleague Monarch will let go of about 1/3 (approx 1,000 pilots?) of their flight deck due to reorginization. That's an amazing reduction and I'd be willing to bet that EK will have a road show there within the next month.

Quite a sad day for our Monarch brothers and sisters if this is all true.

What about all the "cadet pilots" on the MPL schemes at the moment? Will they still be needed, or will they be left looking for alternative employment?

This news about Monarch seemingly has many of the same elements that I witnessed (from within) just prior to the demise of Air Europe (UK) in March 1991.

If I was working at Monarch today, and they offered me a full redundancy / severance package, I'd take it. Much better that than to get $0.02's worth of f'all later on, i.e. when they go bust (all as happened at AE).

K,

Your source is ill informed... 205 pilots to go, hardly going to touch the sides of what EK need with the amount of guys needed here to make the numbers work to fill in the current rate of resignation and A/C deliveries...

Some of those pilots will be MPL holders, this is when they'll find it very difficult to get alternative work

With all that's going on in Aussie aviation at the moment, I bet there will be a few EK carrots dangling down under.

Here we go again....MASS EXODUS FROM EMIRATES..... It is in the wishes and dream of the pilots.... If a lot go guys leave THEY will have to push up salary. I wish. I wish.'I wish.... Same wet dream has been around the last 10 years.

That's been spouted for at least the past 10 years and yet to happen .

EK would do well to attract a few ex Spotty bods, that being said, EK is a VERY different place to MON. Sad to see the spotty brand sliding, but to be honest it's been happening for years.
