balanced piece, very positive, but cannot understand "why" - I know it is the silly season, but would have thought time on air would be filled by all the nasties going on in the world, especially the Middle East. But, should not knock it, it was, IMHO, a nice piece.

And an occasional PPRuNer to boot!

Who, the reporter or the pilot?

Zer pilot! Haven't seen the Storch fly yet and sadly unlikely to get to Shuttleworth this year.

joy ride,

Thanks for the link. Very nice video. Which airfield shows up at 1:06?

Here is a great pilot report by Budd Davisson on flying the Storch:

Pirep: Fieseler Storch (http://www.airbum.com/pireps/PirepStorch.html)

Also, you can listen to Budd talk about the Storch in his inimitable style on Podcast 19:

The Flight Journal Podcast with Budd Davisson - Flight Journal (http://www.flightjournal.com/the-flight-journal-podcast-with-budd-davisson/?vs=preset&vp=3)

Warning: Both of these sites are amazing time-wasters, because ALL of the reports and podcasts are great. ;)

No probs, IFT! My girlfriend saw it on the TV news and asked me about the odd propeller shape; she is a keen photographer andknows how moving items get distorted, but the Storch's prop has been distorted a lot!

Aviation is one of several areas of interest for me, and like my others it is often covered rather badly by the media, and this report is well above the norm.

I presume it is the Storch pilot who is a member here?

I have not been to see the Shuttleworth Collection yet, but pretty sure that is the airfield shown in the video; not too far from London, gotta go sometime!

Will look at those sites later, cheers!

Can confirm the airfield that appears in the video is indeed Old Warden home of the Shuttleworth Collection....... Well worth a visit !!!

Yes. The Storch owner/pilot is a PPruNer. Has posted on here in the last month.

To be fair, I have never seen Old Warden from the air, but I didn't remember it looking like that. However, it was over thirty years ago that I was last there!

Time for another visit.......!!!!!?

The number of hangars will certainly have increased in thirty years!!

The Storch put on a fabulous display at Lt Gransden show on Sunday virtually stationary in the air. I can remember Patrick Lindsay displaying his at OW in the seventies.

... but the Storch's prop has been distorted a lot!

joy ride,

That distortion is typical of video produced by a GoPro camera. I've read that the way to reduce it is to use a neutral density filter.

Cheers IFT, it is a distinctive distortion.
