This story from Thailand.

Dutch co pilot sadly passed away.

A co-pilot of a budget airline collapsed during flight after taking off from Hat Yai for about 20 minutes to Bangkok on Wednesday.

The pilot of Lion Air flight SL 8537 then made an emergency return to Hat Yai Airport and rushed him to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The co-pilot, a Dutch national, whose name was not revealed was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The flight had 152 passengers on board and all were safe.

Latest I heard from a Friend at THL is he passed away in the ambulance on the way from the airport to hospital.
Just out of curiosity, their position was much closer to Nakon Sri thammarat than Had Yai, without knowing all the details, the poor fellow perhaps could have stood more of a chance if diversion went into Nakon Sri?

Maybe but Unfortunately it would depend on the nature of the Medical Emergency. I read that he died from a Heart attack during flight in the local paper here. Very sad to hear

On Thai language TV this morning (my wife translated for me)
First Officer on Lionair flight from Hat Yai (southern Thailand) to Don Mueang Bangkok was incapacitated shortly after takeoff - suspected heart attack.
Captain returned to Hat Yai but, sadly, the First Officer, believed to be Dutch, was dead by the time he reached hospital.
I have no other details at present.

The Bangkok post has more details, the pilot would be 47-year old Peter Esberte (I guess that transliteration might have changed the spelling of his family name slightly).
